Drilling Stabilizers

Asmary supplies a complete line of downhole drilling stabilizers to increase rate of penetration and control hole deviation problems. All these stabilizers (including spiral blade, straight blade, integral blade, welded blade, sleeve-type, and stainless steel nonmagnetic types) are designed to meet or exceed the strictest quality control and quality assurance standards. All alloy stabilizers are manufactured from AISI 4145H modified heat-treated steel for a wide variety of configurations and hole sizes.

Applications

• Welded straight blade for drilling soft formations

• Sleeve type allowing less equipment inventory in remote locations

• Integral spiral blade allowing 360° hole contact for use in hard rock formations

• Nonmagnetic stabilizers for applications requiring magnetic isolation

Features, Advantages, and Benefits

• Welded stabilizer is a full wrap with a 360° hole contact.
• Stabilizers feature one-piece construction (integral blades).
• Sizes and configurations can be manufactured to operator’s requirements, including blade sizes, connections, and types of material.

• All stabilizer connections can be configured as box × box, as pin × box, or as

the operator requires.

Hard Facing Stabilizers

PRODUCT DETAIL

Hard Facing stabilizers have high tensile, high-wearing and recoverability features. This particular dressing comprises tungsten carbide inserts set in a power spray deposit, which is ideal for abrasive formations. Area of tungsten carbide inserts coverage on the surface of Hardfacing reaches more than 60%. Hardfacing dressing is some special tungsten-carbide powder. It can get more strength and toughness after the welding procedure. It can ensure the Hardfacing’ s abrasion resistance and not easily pull-out to cause damage. We take full account of chemical composition of the material and the need for repeated redressing without damage for our dressing technique. A well-controlled welding temperature can result in a reliable surface alloy welding operation. The composition plane can reach more than 97%. Hard Facing Stabilizers can be cleaned by acetylene burner after abrasion. When the cleaning process is completed, new hard facing can be welded on the surface, proving the better recoverability.

We offer a complete range of Hardfacing to suit all drilling conditions. All stabilizers can be banded with the following Hardfacing.

Stabilizer Service

Asmary offers wide range of stabilizer services including redressing, build-up and grinding down.

Redress Service

Hardfacing of blades is based on:

  • Variety of Tungsten Carbide

  • Matrix Hardness and ability to hold the maximum of Carbide Hardfacing of Blades is achieved by using one of the following methods:

  • HF 1000 – Crushed Tungsten Carbide

  • HF-2000 – Trapezoidal Tungsten Carbide

  • HF-3000 – Tungsten Carbide Inserts (Cubic Type)

  • HF-4000 – Tungsten carbide inserts (button type)

Asmary Stabilizer Service Shop is built to redress up to 26″ diameter.

Build-Up Service

Stabilizer build-up is achieved through welding bars into the blades of stabilizer. Asmary Stabilizer Service Shop is capable to build-up stabilizer up to 26”.

Grinding Down Service

With highly precise grinding machine, we are able to provide stabilizer grinding down up to 24”. Full Quality Control Procedures are maintained throughout the repairing process. Hardfacing techniques have been developed to take full count on the chemical composition of the material and the repeated redressing without damage. Temperature Control of the body during the pre-heat process and throughout the complete redressing procedure. Repaired Stabilizers are:

  • 100% Body Gauged

  • 100% M.P.I. or Ultrasonic Inspected

Our workshops are equipped with Electric Welding Machines, Oxyacetylene Torches for Braze Welding and Grinding machines, to maintain, redress and repair the complete range of stabilizers, fishing and milling tools.

Hardfacing Types of Stabilizers

HF 1000

Crushed tungsten carbide held in a nickel bronze matrix. The 3 mm grain size ensures greater concentration of carbide which is ideal for soft formation drilling.

HF 2000

Trapezoidal tungsten carbide inserts held in a sintered carbide nickel bronze matrix. This will give a greater depth of carbide coverage – ideal for high deviation drilling in abrasive formations.

HF 3000

Tungsten carbide inserts set in a powder spray deposit ideal for abrasive formations. 97% bonding guaranteed, certified by ultrasonic report. Recommended for hard formation.

HF 4000

Tungsten carbide inserts (button type). The inserts have been developed to allow cold insertion and maintain close fit. A greater concentration of inserts on the bottom third of the blade and leading edge will increase surface contact to reduce wear in highly abrasive formations.

HF 5000

This oxy-acetylene process applies tough molten carbide particles of varying sizes held in a nickel chrome matrix whichprovides excellent bonding properties and greater surface wear characteristics are achieved. Surface hardness levels over 40 HRC. Ideal for GEO-THERMAL applications over 350°.
