
Perforating history
Perforation is a critical stage in well completion for oil and gas wells, aimed at establishing communication between the wellbore and the reservoir to allow hydrocarbons (oil or gas) to flow into the well. This process involves creating holes in the casing or liner to form tunnels for reservoir fluids to pass through. Without perforation, the metallic casing acts as a barrier, preventing production.
Asmary Perforation Operation Types
- Wireline Perforating: Fast and cost-effective, using a cable to deploy the guns.
- Tubing-Conveyed Perforating (TCP): Suitable for deep or high-pressure wells, with guns conveyed on tubing.
- Coiled Tubing Perforating: Ideal for horizontal or deviated wells.
- Underbalanced/Overbalanced: In underbalanced perforation, well pressure is lower than reservoir pressure to initiate faster flow and clear debris.
